I have been interested in both the art and craft of photography for a long time. From the beginning I was heavily influenced by the remarkable images of Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, and George Tice.
I never met Ed Weston, however I have read several of his books. I did know Ansel Adams in the 1970s, and I had the great fortune of being accepted, after portfolio review, to attend his famous photography workshop series in Yosemite. I also had a similar opportunity to study with George Tice in several photography workshops. It is safe to say that my understanding of their contributions to the art and craft of photography have influenced my images.
Here are some guiding thoughts regarding my images. They are about more than photographing a subject. I photograph light, texture, form, and color... wherever I find them visually interesting. Using these elements effectively, I have explored a wide range of subject matter seeking to create well crafted, interesting, and expressive photographs. My images have been exhibited, published, and have received awards.
Fine Art and Fine Print photography have always been the central focus of my image collections. I hope you enjoy the photographs in the gallery. From time to time I will be adding more.
